Synopsis/Details
QUICK SUMMARY: The only thing MILA loves more than a hot pan sizzling with grilled onions is the bright lights of a studio. Unfortunately, her desire to recapture her child stardom never comes, and her desperation leads her to VIGGO, a hopeful chef tired of being underestimated. Together, they fake a marriage to land their dream show on the Food Network. What begins as a calculated gamble quickly evolves into a heartfelt connection as they navigate the highs of newfound fame and the pain of past disappointments. Amidst the chaos of their deceit unraveling, Mila and Viggo discover that the real success isn't in the fame they've chased, but in the genuine love and partnership they've found in each other. FULL SYNOPSIS: Decades after she was a child star on a huge Disney show, MILA is still struggling to pick up the pieces of her life. She's desperate to reclaim her former success and believes she's destined to have her own cooking show. She has industry experience and name recognition, however, she's unaware she lacks charisma and has the personality of dry bread. The only reason she pulled herself out of obscurity was because of her transgender brother QUINN. Together they were hosting a popular cooking show on social media. Mila’s robotic personality was charming, funny even, in comparison to Quinn’s lively energetics. A natural in front of the camera, Quinn was beloved by their audience. Unfortunately, Mila felt he was in the way of her future stardom and began pushing him out. As the audience wonders if Mila alone is worth sticking around for, she grows increasingly desperate to land something before she loses the little momentum she has. After a chance meeting with VIGGO, a fellow aspiring celebrity chef, she realizes their potential. The Food Network is looking for the next "Chip and Joanna Gaines of food", and Mila believes it could be them. All she needs to do is manufacture a fake marriage, and with her connections, they're as good as in! Desperate for his own break after years of being treated like the family joke, Viggo gives in to Mila and agrees to the idea (even though he’s sure it’s crazy). They create a whole fake backstory and film a pilot episode. The show gets picked up, and to their surprise, it becomes a smashing success. A big part of what makes it a hit is Mila and Viggo’s viral social media campaign. Neither is actually social media savvy – they just keep accidentally going viral, like when Mila fights a seagull on the pier while trying to get the perfect promotional photo. As they film their first season, the only thing more surprising than their instant success is that their feelings are real. They're falling in love with each other, and somehow, everything is going perfect. That is until it's discovered they're not really married and they made the whole thing up. As their deception becomes tabloid fodder, they find everything about themselves being torn apart by the public. When they lose their show, it seems as if they've lost everything. But not exactly. They still have each other. And with a little gumption and a dash of table salt, this ending may actually be the beginning of something truly beautiful. Their new beginning is one they will navigate together, with integrity, vulnerability, and heaps of wisdom.
