Synopsis/Details
Young and ambitious, FRANCESCA left her small town for New York City to chase a career in finance, thinking success would bring her happiness. But after years of corporate grind, she’s exhausted, lonely, and questioning whether the sacrifices were worth it. When she learns her father, ROLAND, has suffered a heart attack, she returns home, expecting a quick stay to help him get back on his feet.
However, as soon as she steps into Rossi’s Timepieces, the family clock shop, she’s transported back to a simpler time. The familiar ticking, the scent of aged wood, and the gentle glow of the shop stir memories she thought she’d left behind. Her homecoming is complicated by an awkward encounter with JENNA, Roland’s apprentice. Francesca promises her father she’ll help Jenna run the shop, but soon, her initial discomfort turns into tension. Francesca’s mind is often elsewhere, caught up in remote work calls from her demanding boss, further straining her relationship with Jenna.
As she juggles her job and her commitment to the shop, Francesca notices things have changed. Jenna isn’t just an employee; she’s a trusted friend to Roland, and more than that, she’s being groomed to take over the business. Francesca feels blindsided and begins to resent how Jenna has seemingly stepped into her role in the family. Determined to reclaim her place and reconnect with her father, Francesca’s resentment leads her to push Jenna out of the family business, believing it’s the only way to restore the bond she fears she’s lost.
But Jenna isn’t willing to back down. Having lost her own parents, she sees Roland and the shop as the only family she has, and she’ll do whatever it takes to protect her life in the town she’s come to love. The tension reaches a boiling point when Francesca confronts Jenna at her home. In a moment of vulnerability, Francesca realizes that Jenna was the one by Roland’s side when he needed help most. Without her, he might not have survived that day.
Driving home, Francesca receives a call from her boss that makes her question her own future—a life of relentless demands, loneliness, and detachment. She begins to see herself through Jenna’s eyes, realizing she’s been acting just like her boss: ruthless, self-absorbed, and dismissive.
Determined to make amends, Francesca invites Jenna over for dinner, where she apologizes and acknowledges that Jenna is the right person to inherit the shop. Over the next few days, their relationship shifts, and during a spontaneous night out, an unexpected kiss brings them closer than either anticipated. But just as things seem to be falling into place, Francesca gets called back to the city for a work crisis. While she’s gone, a restraining order she’d previously filed against Jenna, which was supposed to be dismissed, mistakenly gets served, leading Jenna to believe Francesca was insincere all along.
After returning to New York, Francesca realizes she hates the life she’s built. She resigns and heads back home, ready to start anew, only to find Jenna unwilling to speak to her. Desperate to bridge the divide, Francesca repairs an old family heirloom—a delicate pocket watch—and presents it to Jenna as both an apology and an invitation to become part of her family. Jenna, deeply moved, realizes that she’s no longer alone; with Roland and Francesca, she’s found the family she lost so long ago.
Months later, in the warmly lit shop, Jenna and Francesca announce their plans to be married. Now co-running Rossi’s Timepieces and sharing a life filled with love and purpose, they’ve never been happier, and Roland’s health and spirits are better than ever. In the timeless rhythm of the clock shop, they’ve built a life that ticks along with gentle precision, filled with love, understanding, and family.
