Synopsis/Details
A mix between Poison Ivy, Little Shop of Horrors and Chocolat, Poisonous explores lust, sexuality and religion. Rachel and Beau, a couple in their mid-thirties have moved to a small village in England from LA, under the guise of Beau being there to re-engage the younger generation with the Church. A pastor of an incredibly popular celebrity Church in LA, Beau has been pushed out after some hushed-up sexual assault allegations, involving him masturbating in front of various young women who had come to him for guidance. Lucy is a young woman in her twenties who owns and runs the village morgue. Everyone knows everything about each other - except for Lucy, who has been guarding a secret for the past 15 years. When she was 8, she discovered that a parasite had lodged in her body, and in order for her to survive it needs to be fed on human flesh. The tree gets stronger and more desperate to take her over the longer it is not fed, so Lucy lives in a constant balance - she must feed it enough to keep it tamed, but in order to feed it people have to die. Lucy is in perfect control until she meets Rachel, and starts to fall in love for the first time.
