Prey for the Dead

Eddie Pierce, father of two, slices his hand open on an archeological trip when he and his crew uncover a preserved humanoid, unknowingly contracting a deadly virus in the process. Highly contagious, yet deadly, due to its long incubation period. Meanwhile, his wife Lindsey and their two children, Billy and Kendal, are at home preparing for Halloween season, where they are having issues with three neighborhood bullies. Despite being instigators, Kendal and Billy lack the courage to fight or defend themselves without the help of their father. The bullies start a fight with them at school, luckily stopped by the principal just in time, where they threaten Kendal and Billy that they will see them again. Eddie eventually returns home and takes the kids out trick or treating, where they eventually stumble across the bullies again, this time threatening their lives. Kendal and Billy make it to safety, but Eddie stands his ground. Unfortunately, Eddie begins to feel symptoms of the virus spreading through his body, especially in his left arm where he was exposed. Luckily a police officer puts an end to it before Eddie is beaten down. Fast forward to Christmas time and things are not getting much better for Eddie. His episodes and symptoms continue to come and go overtime, but his stubborn nature refuses any kind of help or treatment, under the idea that it will make him appear weak in front of his family. We eventually learn the truth about one of the bullies on the night of Christmas, and why he is the way he is, due to personal issues at home with his parents. It is now too late for Eddie in Times Square on New Years Eve when the clock begins its countdown as a foggy blizzard hits the city. He drops dead amongst crowd, awakening the virus in the process as it reaches his brain, turning him into a savage, relentless creature with a lust for blood as the virus begins to spread like a wild fire. Due to its long incubation period, much like rabies, the self aware virus triggers the deceased infected to bite into the skull, immediately killing the host upon impact, while simultaneously injecting itself right into the brain. Lindsey, Kendal, and Billy are now forced with the choice to survive and escape without the help of their father. And how will things work out when they run into the bullies again? Can they all put their differences aside and work together to make it out alive?
