When We Were Broken

Liam Barilla, at only 14 years old, meets who he thinks will be the love of his life on a beach as he plays a game of frisbee with his younger brother, Nick. Fast forward to 4 years later, Liam, now 18 years old, is ready to finally pop the question on her as he gets ready to go pick her up for dinner. Unfortunately for him, he finds out some shocking news about her that leads to him feeling empty and broken hearted. Unsure of what to do, Nick invites him to come spend the week down in Florida at their grandparents’ with the hopes that it will take his mind off things. Meanwhile, a young woman, Abigail, who lives in the same developement as their grandparents, is having confusing issues with her little sister, Isabella, wondering why she doesn’t like Abigail’s boyfriend, Ethan. Who seems like a friendly and decent enough guy. On the plane ride to Florida, Liam and Nick end up talking with two gentlemen who give Liam some helpful advice and words of wisdom on what to do about love and how to not waste your life looking for it, but rather to wait for it to come to you. Liam, Nick, Abigail, and Isabella eventually cross paths at a town pool in their grandparents’ development, where Isabella nearly drowns after injuring herself, luckily saved by Liam and Nick just in time. Liam and Abigail eventually start to develop strong feelings for each other as they talk more and spend more time together, where Liam eventually finds out the shocking truth about Abigail, living with her boyfriend for financial support after the death of her and Isabella’s parents. And it only adds insult to injury when we find out what kind of man her boyfriend really is to her behind closed doors. With time on the vacation running out, Liam must decide on what to do about Abigail, especially regarding the strong feelings he has developed towards her, and how he plans on saving her from a toxic relationship and being together with her, despite living in seperate states. And what happens when Abigail’s boyfriend finds out what’s been going on and attempts to put a stop to it?
