Synopsis/Details
Maria left home as a gangster’s little girl. She comes back a full grown woman with an MBA. When she left for college, Papi was a strong and vibrant man. Now he’s frail. Needs a liver transplant. She wants to give him part of hers.
She never liked his bad boy partner. Now partner wants to strong arm Papi into selling the junk yard on the cheap. No way that’s happening, she says.
But her teenage self did like the partner’s son. Liked him way too much. That’s not happening again. Right?
The deal for Adios Scrap goes south real quick. Turns out partner has some cartel “investors.” They’re pretty convincing. At least they think they are.
The liver transplant hits a bump, too. DNA says she’s her father’s blood child. What? Papi said he found her in a car seat by the river. What happened to Mommy? Why did he lie? And what else did he lie about?
But the questions don’t stop the action. The partner demands the deal get done now. Papi sneaks off alone to do it. Maria dashes to the junkyard for the showdown. Not everybody comes out alive.
All the lies are torn open on the banks of the river. Water just keeps on rolling down the valley. The river’s still muddy but there aren’t so many weeds on the riverbank.
And back at the junk yard? Old plans get tweaked and bad memories get buried. Big difference? Demolition Derby has a new driver.
The truth may not set you free.
