Synopsis/Details
Single mom Lindsey makes Santa Claus costumes. She runs her own sewing studio. With Christmas three months away Lindsey’s favorite customer, Mr. Christ, who has now started growing his white beard, comes to the sewing studio to be fitted for a fresh Christmas costume. He shares a prophecy: "A man with a beard, glasses, and a tattoo on his chest will come into your life at Christmas." That's remarkable, as Lindsey  hates beards and secretly likes clean shaven, popular TV-host Mitchell Wright. She and her lovely ten years old daughter Lucy watch his show every week. Yet, despite her prejudice, Lindsey’s preference changes over the next months. There’ is the bearded mechanic repairing the sewing machine, a nice violin playing homeless man in the street and even her friend’s ex-boyfriend. Life isn't all Merry Christmas. As the end of the year is near, Lindsey’s will feel sad again missing her father who hasn’t spoken her for ten years. And there is more sadness. Lindsey's black neighbors and friends bump into grief as they were set to foster two orphans, but are denied when the man is hit by a heart attack. Sad as well, although Lindsey doesn't know about that, is how TV-host Mitchell in real live isn't as happy at all as on television. Two years ago Mitchell lost his wife and child. Real life makes him increasingly hating the fake emotion of spoiled guests on his 'You need Love' show. Actually, his volunteer work, entertaining the elderly people in the Mistletoe Hospital, is much more satisfying. Now childless himself, he can also help orphans there. Lindsey dressed as Santa By the end of December in the Mistletoe Center a sick Santa drops out. Mr. Christ asks Lindsey to take his place. Dressed up as Santa Claus, she reunites with her bedridden father. They reminisce and celebrate Christmas with ten years old daughter Lucy, by Grandpa mistaken for Lindsey due to his dementia. In the Center, Lindsey bumps into Mitchell, like her dressed as Santa Claus, without recognizing him. Mitchell doesn’t notice she is a woman. “Man to man,” the Santa’s become friends. Mutual understanding flowers and both 'men' share secrets about women, sex and prostate problems. Christmas Eve On Christmas Eve, Lindsey gets the good news from her neighbors that their foster plan has finally been accepted after all, thanks to the guarantee of an anonymous benefactor. Who? The news is brought by Mr. Christ, whose real life white beard and actions surprisingly start to resemble the real Father Christmas, accompanied by Mitchell, for this festive occasion -unrecognizable- dressed as Santa Claus. Aware his Mistletoe friend lives downstairs Mitchell likes to pay him a short visit. He is welcomed by who he thinks is his friends wife, Lindsey. It takes a time -and a welcoming beer and Christmas appetizers- before Mitchell learns there will be no husband to come home, for him to assume his friend isn't that nice after all. This nice and beautiful woman certainly deserves better, not to mention her lovely daughter Lucy and particular today on Christmas Eve. To Lindsey Santa's visit shines this special evening, and even more when Santa reads daughter Lucy a lovely Christmas bedtime story. To do so Santa puts on his reading glasses. A beard and glasses, we are close to the final whistle. Santa stays for Breakfast It's about time Lindsey reveals it was her with whom Santa Mitchell shared the Mistletoe dressing room. The already existing friendship accelerate fast now. And as they continue talking, drinking and eating together, Mitchell might as well swap his heavy Santa costume for something a little cozier. Lindsey's pajamas or nightgowns will fit better. As Mitchell has changed in the bedroom and steps back into the living room, Lindsey is overwhelmed. In front of her is her beloved TV-host Mitchell Wright. It's no surprise Santa Mitchell stays for breakfast. That night when Lindsey and Mitchell share the same bed, the prophesied flower tattoo on Mitchell's chest is clearly visible. At breakfast, Mr. Christ’s Santa Claus portrait on the wall winks at Lindsey.
