Genre- Serial comedic drama Format- 1/2hr TV Pilot Nutshell- Friends meets Pacific Heights OVERVIEW Spiked seeks to test the meaning of what it takes to be a true friend in this buddy coming of age story. This story takes place in a world where the unjust get their just, karma comes swift and hard and the universe aligns makers to meet their match. Before our heroes can become best friends again, they must overcome the love interest tied up in a failing rental scam they got themselves into. Characters- ALEX ANDER- main hero, unlucky and unloved Alex feels as though his clock is ticking and he needs to get a girlfriend fast. He may have found the one, except she is evil and is also the rightful heir to the house they are using to run their rental scam. In season 1 Alex changes from desperate to grateful. Lorenzo Moreno- main hero, confident and conniving Lorenzo is an alpha male who believes he is smarter than everyone else in the room. Lorenzo has one goal in life, to get off of Alex’s bedroom couch and get a home he can call his own. At the end of season 1 Lorenzo has gone from being in control to scared. Solange Villafanna- main antagonist, beautiful and bitter Solange has had unlucky relationships with guys all her life. This has given her a hatred towards men. After the death of her mother, her step-father kicked her out of her own 5-bedroom house and puts it up for rent. Solange unable to get her house back signs up as a tenant and plays along to Alex and Lorenzo’s con because she has a vicious con of her own. Season 1 ends by Solange together with Alex getting captured by a native tribe. They are being held as prisoners when they go out on their first ever date. Solange moves from, in her comfort zone to despair. Kerri is a young entrepreneur looking for a new start with her Best friend at her side. For Kerri Season 1 ends when she signs her company over to Karen- an employer she adored but that was before she discovered Karen’s secret. Kerri uses this information against Karen and Karen loses her job. Karen gets her revenge at the end of season 1 when Kerri signs her own company over to Karen unknowingly. KF- main cast member, mysterious and magnificent, KF is not the character’s name this character does not have a name, the purpose for this is to give an edge to the show. This character is best friend to Kerri and they come to rent together. KF, a pretty female whom dresses like the girl from “The Ring”, long brown straight hair brushed forward over her face, a dated blouse etc. KF is like the Brian in “Family Guy” or Roger in “American Dad”. KF is a unique character who happens to be fantastic in everything she does, she just needs to learn how to remain an introvert in a home of extroverts. KF in the first season goes from shy to socially comfortable after spending time with other people besides Kerri. Pilot Story line The pilot begins with a flash forward of Alex and Lorenzo at their home welcoming party for the house they are using to run the rental scam. The scene ends with Solange screaming out that someone had just died which throws Alex and Lorenzo off course from their con. The episode goes on to show Alex and Lorenzo in their everyday life. Alex is trying to hook up with a female in the video game he is playing, Lorenzo lies on Alex’s bed throwing a ball against the wall. Just then Alex’ grandmother steps in and scolds them for being irresponsible around the house she then implies they are not men and to tidy up because two real men “renovators” are coming to finish the repairs. After she leaves Lorenzo gets into Alex’s head, telling him to be weary of his granny’s sudden promiscuous behavior after his grandpa has gone missing; Lorenzo is trying to manipulate Alex to move out from his Granny’s home to a home of their own. Alex denies this about his granny but then recants his statement when he sees the garb the renovators are wearing. This gets Alex to agree with Lorenzo to move out. After finding the perfect 5-bedroom house at an affordable price they set their plan in motion and they immediately pay the rental cost with the only money they had saved up. Wasting no time, they start doing interviews for potential tenants by posting on social media about the beautiful home they own. The offer is a free set of eyelashes with each interview, Lorenzo offers this in hopes of getting only females to come to sign up and it worked as scores of women lined up to find a steal of a deal place to live. Rather early in the interview process we meet Solange, Alex falls madly in love with her, all she did was smile at him; he believes it is love at first sight. During the last interview they have for the day with Kerri and KF; Kerri congratulates them on their achievement of being a home owner and encourages them to host a home welcoming party. This party is hosted in episode 2. The last scene of the pilot finishes with, Alex’s guilt kicking in and him rethinking the perpetual lie they now have to keep up. Meanwhile Lorenzo is enjoying every moment of it. Finally the setup of Solange’s con/the story engine is revisited again except with Solange speaking to whoever she is announcing is dead and telling them to “shut up and play dead” before she screams out “he is dead!”
