Synopsis/Details
Irina is a retired astral spy and aikido expert whose ability in the field of astral projection was second to none. Now a university lecturer she still goes into the ether but only to investigate environmentally suspect companies. One such investigation results in an attempt on her life that leaves her husband dead, her daughter Emma seemingly in a coma, and the loss of her special abilities in the ether and as a martial artist. She discovers she has been betrayed by Coultas, a former comrade from her old military unit, who is now employed by the company she has been investigating. Coultas reveals that Emma is being held captive in the ether to ensure Irina’s silence. In order to recover her abilities to fight and project, Irina returns to her old aikido sensei for help. Through rigorous aikido training employing the genuine esoteric Ki Aikido principles of Tohei Sensei, 10th Dan, she makes the breakthrough needed in order to go into the ether to find Emma. When her training is complete Irina’s and Emma’s bodies must be protected in the real world while Irina searches for Emma in the ether. To ensure their safety they are taken to her sensei’s mansion, where they are guarded by aikido experts who watch the mansion and grounds in anticipation of the attack that will come from Coultas and his henchmen. Irina finds Emma and they race to get back to their earthbound bodies evading their pursuers in the ether whilst their protectors at the mansion face the attack of the company men intent on killing them. Irina and Emma make it back and the final fight is an earthbound martial arts fight to the death between Irina and her former comrade, Coultas.

The Writer: Alan Fleet

I started out as a novelist and Woollyback was my first novel to be published in July 2000. Two years later this was selected by the UK Film Council for a tutored adaptation at Bournemouth Film School which in turn led to me completing a Masters in Screenwriting in 2006. To date I have made twenty-three short films on a wide variety of topics with costs ranging from zero budget to £10K. Giri won four festival awards and all the films can be seen on YouTube at Alan Fleet Short Films. I have written eight novels, a four-part TV drama, and eight feature screenplays, one of which, Summerisle, is a spec sequel to The Wicker Man that Robin Hardy had expressed interest in directing through… Go to bio
