Synopsis/Details
The "Case Officer" follows Harry Doyle, a former FBI field agent turned case officer, as he uncovers a conspiracy involving illegal arms sales and the murder of a surveillance team. The story begins with surveillance officers identifying Colonel Adad, a notorious war criminal, arriving at a local airport. As the plot unfolds, Harry's superior, Mathews, is revealed to be involved in the conspiracy, killing the surveillance team for what they have accidentally witnessed and framing Harry's case, Danny Stiles, for the murders. Harry, no stranger to blackmail and coercion to get results, persuades Danny's daughter Lori and a group of his most unreliable and unrepentant parolees (Carla, Sticky, Mrs. Williams, and Johnny), to gather evidence against Mathews and Adad. This puts everyone in harm’s way, including assassination attempts and a bombing. Despite the dangers and using the individual skills of his criminal cases, Harry manages to gather enough evidence to expose the conspiracy. In the climax, Harry demonstrates that he wasn’t always a desk officer but a decorated and skilled field operative: Adad’s agents are overcome, Mathews is killed and Adad is blown to bits by one of his own bombs. The story concludes with Harry and his team being cleared of any wrongdoing, Johnny getting a job with the FBI, and Harry receiving a gold ingot (stolen from Mathews) as a retirement gift from his former cases. The screenplay ends with a sense of resolution and justice served.
