Synopsis/Details
Young and inexperienced detective Maguire (28) is assigned a new female partner as part of a foreign exchange program. JanKay (25, blond, slim, almost thin, is a sickly and socially awkward young woman who speaks in an 'Eastern European' accent and although Maguire is unhappy he is put under pressure from his chief, the Mayor and the Secret Service. As they investigate the local drugs cartel they become involved in a hunt for a serial killer who inflicts bizarre injuries on his victims; as the body count mounts it becomes clear that the killer is taunting them, outsmarting them every step of the way. At the same time JanKay is beginning to exhibit unusual abilities - she is fast and unusually strong and seems to know a great deal about the man they are hunting. She also appears to enjoy sampling various aspects of Western culture- drugs, sex, alcohol and rock music; and she constantly changes her appearance, as if she has just discovered fashion, ranging in styles from elegant to punk. Maguire now suspects that the killer is not entirely normal, a feeling which leads to the further suspicion that neither is JanKay. As their investigations continue and JanKay's behavior becomes more extreme and violent, her treatment by police colleagues deteriorates - she is called 'freak' and 'witch' and Maguire becomes more protective of his partner as they come closer to the killer. But the killer is also becoming closer to them and in the final scene as the death toll mounts both Maguire and JanKay look set up to be the next victims.
