Synopsis/Details
After his seven year-old son is injured horribly in a hit-and-run, career soldier Remy receives a phone call from a friendly, confident Voice. When the Voice proves that he has the power to heal Remy Jr. (RJ), Remy agrees to give up his soul and do the Voice's bidding, ultimately resulting in Remy's violent death. Years later, Darren, a deceased pedophile teacher, escapes from Hell. Cussack, one of the Devil's chief bounty hunters, springs into action. Per religious law, a current occupant of Hell needs to be present at the time of an escapee's capture. Cussack summons Remy. If they're able to drag Darren back to Hell, Remy will receive a pardon and get a shot at living again. However, the universe is complicated in its checks and balances. It's all about judgment on the guilty, forgiveness for the repentant, and free will to all. Accordingly, Nora Becker, a public defender having a crisis of faith, is assigned to Darren's defense. Her job is to take Darren to church before Remy and Cussack apprehend him, allowing Darren one last chance at salvation. Remy, Cussack, and Becker will have to battle it out for Darren's soul. Problem is, the longer Darren's out of Hell, the stronger he becomes, and the more powerful his desires grow. And he likes the pictures he's seen of RJ.
