Synopsis/Details
A small hotel on the outskirts of town becomes a murder investigation when all its occupants are massacred, besides one terribly injured man, FATHER FERGUS O’LEARY. Put on the case is OFFICER DALEY who finds that the closet of the hotel owner, EVELYN MYERS, is a shrine to the devil. Fergus begs Officer Daley to have the hotel exorcised immediately. However, fearing bad press the department instead shuts down the hotel. It remains dormant for forty years until..
The Mitchell family, CHRIS, MOLLY, and their son LUCAS purchase the hotel Unaware of its history. Living in Evelyn’s former room, they find the closed-up closet and open it, unbeknownst to them, awakening the dormant demon who has his eyes on their mute son. As restorations are almost complete Chris and Molly stumble across old newspaper clippings about the hotel and decide to get in touch with the local paper editor DALTON, requesting him to run a story about the hotel’s re-launch. On the grand opening day, Molly is disappointed that no one has stopped by. However, during the early hours, a young lady, FRANCIS, checks in, but by morning she has gone. Worrying about the disappearance they call the police, who advise them install security cameras to monitor the comings and goings. At the hardware store Chris talks with the store clerk about the hotel. Fergus, now blind due to the attack, overhears this and tells him to get out. Thinking the old man was telling him to get out of the store, he quickly leaves and goes back to install the camera system. That night an unsettling family checks in, and yet again in the morning they are gone. Chris and Molly check the security camera footage and are surprised to discover that there is no footage of them leaving…or arriving. Worry begins to set in with Molly. Fergus arrives at the hotel and tells them they need to get out immediately, their son is in danger. Angered, Chris kicks him out. This leads to a fight between he and Molly. She wants to leave but he reminds her how much money they have invested in the renovation. Later that night they feel the force of something unhuman. Just then, Dalton arrives ready to interview them for the reopening newspaper article. He fills them in on the hotel’s history in great detail as his father, Officer Daley, was the reporting officer. He said his father arrived to find a young woman, Francis, and a family butchered in their rooms. Chris and Molly convince Fergus to perform an exorcism on the hotel despite his hesitancy due to his blindness. The demon, now in the form of Evelyn, is drowned out with prayer thanks to Lucas finally finding his voice and finishing off the prayer to rescue Fergus at the last moment. Witnessing the scene firsthand, Dalton writes an incredible story, which in turn, brings tons of visitors to the property now known as “The Devil’s Hotel.” Dalton takes a trip to visit Fergus in an attempt to piece together unanswered questions. It is then they realize, the devil’s entry point, the closet, was never exorcised. Fergus tries to leave the hospital bed but the staff holds him down. Meanwhile, back at the hotel, the demon glares over Lucas while he is sleeping.
