Synopsis/Details
Unemployed actor, Johnny Swift, is an absolute and uncanny ‘double’ for a very famous and celebrated Hollywood movie star. Every day on Hollywood Boulevard, in front of The Chinese Theater, Johnny poses as that famous movie star for pictures with the tourists. And all for tips. Life on “the boulevard of broken dreams” goes on routinely for Johnny until an incredible series of circumstances turns him into an internet sensation and puts him on the cover of newspapers and magazines around the world. And his dubious claim to fame is the result of being exposed for successfully impersonating the famous absentee movie star (& “Best Actor” nominee) at the Academy Awards. Johnny becomes known to millions as “The Fake” and, even more incredibly, a major movie is soon in the works regarding his unlikely brush with fame. This time, though, it’s the famous movie star who will portray his celebrity impersonator/look-a-like, Johnny Swift. But then again, could this be the most elaborate con in the history of Hollywood? Could “The Fake”….be a fake?
