Synopsis/Details
Fred Dinenage is a journalist in London who is tasked to write a book about the Kray's life, with the help of the Kray twins themselves, while they are both in prison. Through the retelling of their lives we are taken through decades as to how the twins were able to go from young champion boxers to the most feared and ruthless gangsters in London's east end. We first meet Fred when he is arriving at Broadmoor Mental Hospital to visit with Ronnie. He is stopped by an unknown man claiming to be friends with Ronnie and knows he is writing this book and to be careful. Fred interviews Ronnie and picks up where Reggie left off, talking about there younger years when they were just sixteen and coming into their own as boxers. Fred next visits Reggie who is housed in Parkhurst Prison. Reggie tells the story of how two critical members came to be apart of the Firm. Then we meet Billy and Lenny, both young, eager and in awe of the twins and soon they are running rackets and making a name for themselves, as ruthless gangsters who will protect anyone and anything they love. Fred is threatened by a man claiming he had the sole rights to the twins story, frightening Fred and drawing him deeper into the lure of the Krays.
