Synopsis/Details
A UK/Irish feature script? Romantic comedy-drama? - With some collectible antique fishing lures now worth north of six figures it opens up a world of vintage rods, reels and romance to make a good excuse for shenanigans!
Sam Wells a passionate fisherman, owner of a very valuable and rare fishing lure, 'The Mathewson Mighty Minnow' returns home from his time in the Army.
He finds his boyhood rival Bill Growcott married to his former teenage sweetheart. Bill, a 'keen angler’ and sworn boyhood enemy of Sam and all-round nasty piece of work is also the current owner of the last open fishing water of the town.
Sam still hates Bill, and Bill still hates Sam. To make matters worse Bill intends to sell the land to developers to be drained and cleared for a housing project and megastore and adjacent golf course.
Sam plans to stop him and win back the affections of his first love with the help of Arthur his now ‘spectral’ dead pal and mentor who is more than up to the task of giving a helping hand from the afterworld especially if fishing is involved.
The showdown involves the whole community. Rods and reels at dawn…it’s a real bobby-dazzler! May the best man win!
