Synopsis/Details
"The Legend of Corporal Pike" is a coming of age drama told in a different concept. The story follows Tim Dearden, a shy, timid reclusive teenager who resides with his strict step-father in a remote village where residents are wary of a Hermit residing in the woodlands. An easy target for bullies, Tim has been warned by a teacher about his grades and the need to hand in a project of his choosing. After school, taking a shortcut through the woodland Tim is set upon the bullies when the Hermit comes to his aid, reveals himself as Corporal Wilson Pike who fought for King and Country during World War Two. Tim plays truant at school and informs the Hermit's identity to villagers who laugh off the War Veteran notion. The villagers attempt to persuade Tim of the Hermit's whereabouts. Now, with time running out, Tim Dearden venting his anger towards the village is determined to prove the Hermit is indeed Corporal Wilson Pike, and hand in his project 'The Legend of Corporal Pike' or forever be the outcast stuck in a lonely world. I believe the captures the subject of loneliness, and the transformation of a boy being a man in "The Legend of Corporal Pike" may appeal to a wide audience.
