Synopsis/Details
Lily has been fascinated with the ancient mine at the edge of her boyfriend’s ranch since she was a little girl. There are legends surrounding the place, and stories of a young man, a tragic man falling to his doom deep underneath the mountain. She saw him once, she’s sure of it. And ever since that fateful moment, she cannot forget what she saw. So when the time comes for her to prove to herself that it’s not a dream, that the mysterious Pedro does haunt this mountain, she finds the courage to descend into the mine. The mine has other ideas, though, and swallows her up, as a rockslide cuts her off from the outside world and breaks her foot. What she finds inside is a whispering, curling, living darkness that threatens to engulf her. At the last moment, Pedro finds her, saves her, gets her safely out of the mountain. But they emerge not in Lily’s world… they emerge in Pedro’s. A magical few days together makes it clear that they were made for each other, as they fall hopelessly - and helplessly - in love with each other. But Lily is alive, still. Her mother and boyfriend will not give up on her, and they keep trying to get to her. She must decide which world she wants to be a part of, and it breaks her heart that she must go back to her family. Pedro makes her promise never to return, and watches as she leaves him in the darkness of a lonely existence as the prisoner of the mine. Lily can’t cope back in the world of the living. She cannot let go of the mine, as the mine does not want to let her go. She returns, fulfills a promise that is as ancient as the hills. She is swallowed up by the mountain, to be with her love for ever more.
