Synopsis/Details
“Twin” is a psychological suspense thriller when “Silence of the Lambs” meets “Doppelganger” in Atlanta GA. When BRET ADAMS, loses his girlfriend DONNA, in a heinous murder, his twin brother BRIAN, convinces him not to go to the police, because Donna is the fifth of his girlfriends to be murdered and he’s sure his brother will be a suspect. Due to Bret’s particular taste in women, DETECTIVE WILLIAMS can’t help but notice the resemblance in all the victims and thinks she’s seeing their ghost when news reporter, KARA JAMES shows up at his crime scene asking questions about a possible serial killer. Although Williams doesn’t like to deal with the media he decides to use Kara to draw out his killer.
As an insider to the case, Kara is made privy to information including how many victims there are and how much they look like her. She is allowed to report from places that would cause the killer to reconnect to the murders and possibly seek Kara out while Williams and his partner are waiting to nab him. When Bret sees Kara’s report, he goes to her boss to become a protected source for the paper, but he too is seeing his dead girlfriend’s ghosts every time he looks at her. Kara and Bret team up to sneak around behind Williams back to fake dating since the killer’s timing seems to be based on Bret falling in love.
In the mist of Kara’s double investigation practices, her boss reveals information about Bret’s past and his connection to the victims to Williams causing him to arrest and question Bret. Certain that Bret is innocent, Kara digs into this past and travels the lake house where it’s being reported that Bret actually died at the age of ten along with a family friend who looks like all the victims. It's being said that Bret is really his twin brother Brian. While snooping, Kara is held hostage by the real killer, SAMUEL who is the father of the girl who died and she is almost killed as he’s trying to put his dead daughter back to rest. Williams saves the day, and Bret is placed into a mental hospital where he’s being forced to accept that he is the only survivor of the twins. An added twist to Bret’s dilemma is that Samuel is the only witness to Bret’s identity since his mother raised him as both boys. When she could not accept losing one of her children, she burned Bret's fingerprints off as a child so that he could not be identified.
