Synopsis/Details
One evening, while Carlos is working on his car in the driveway, he is surprised by Mari. When they talk, they reminisce about a recent party, where they both became intimate. As their conversation begins to reflect their intimate past, Carlos' father passes by to take out the trash and sees them and they quickly simmer down. Later that evening, Carlos and his father, Big Carlos, are having dinner. He asks Carlos if he has been intimate with Mari and he denies it. Big Carlos warns him that if he is, there is big trouble bound to happen. That weekend, Carlos is at a barbecue with his crew where other car enthusiasts meet up to show off there cars. Carlos rides with Chito, the leader of his car club. They pass Big Carlos who sits next to his car alone. Chito, who has not seen him since he was released from prison, thanks him but Big Carlos is not cordial. A few days later, Carlos is working on his car again. Mari approaches him. As they talk, Carlos notices she is a bit melancholy. After asking if everything is alright a few times, she finally reveals that she is pregnant. Carlos can not believe it and asks how it could be. She confirms that it could only be him because he was the only one she had ever been intimate with. Carlos' main concern is whether her father, Chito, knows about her pregnancy. She tells him she hasn't told her father yet and storms off. Later that week, Mari is walking home from school with her best friend Jasmina. They talk about the pregnancy and Jasmina encourages Mari to get an abortion. Meanwhile, Carlos is working on his car and finally gets it to start. He sits for a moment deep in thought, then quickly runs into the house and comes back out with a duffel bag. He shuts the hood, gets in the car and leaves. Shortly after the girls round the corner and pass by Carlos' house. They notice his car is gone and Mari lets Jasmina continue walking home so she can investigate. When she knocks on the front door, Big Carlos answers. He tells her that he left a short whiles ago and it looked like he was going away for awhile. Then, he shuts the door. Mari breaks down in tears. Carlos is driving deep in thought. He makes an abrupt turn. Alexander Valentin avalentinfilm@gmail.com
