Synopsis/Details
The eerie glow of the campfire casts dancing shadows across the faces of five teenagers - Ella, Marcus, Jonah, Brianna, and Sasha - as they sit huddled together in the depths of the forest. What began as an innocent weekend getaway to escape their mundane lives has taken an unsettling turn as the night stretches on. As darkness envelops them, they decide to pass the time by sharing spooky stories around the crackling flames. However, these are no mere tales of fiction. With each chilling narrative, disturbing truths about their own lives are unveiled. Ella recounts the story of an obsessive friend who vanished after she tried to sever ties, mirroring the strained relationship with her supposed best friend Brianna. Marcus spins a harrowing yarn about being stalked through these very woods as a child by an ominous figure that still haunts his nightmares to this day. Jonah's eerie account delves into a family concealing dark mental instabilities behind a perfect façade - cutting too close to his own home's turmoil. Then Brianna shares a bone-chilling tale of stumbling upon something sinister lurking beneath her home, a metaphor for the domestic abuse she's long kept buried. Finally, it's Sasha's turn. Rather than regaling another urban legend, she utters three simple yet haunting words: "You know me." In that moment, a foreboding sense of dread washes over the group, as if she's summoned something very real and far more terrifying than any campfire story. Strange occurrences soon begin manifesting in the shadows surrounding them. Eerie whispers echo through the trees. Unexplained lights flicker unnaturally at the forest's edge. One by one, their phones start buzzing with ominous texts from an unknown number, revealing intimate details only they should know. It becomes dreadfully apparent they are not alone out here. As paranoia takes hold, the friends turn on each other, wondering whose story awoke these dark forces. Brianna accuses Ella of lying about their crumbling friendship. Marcus spirals, convinced his childhood tormentor has returned. Jonah questions if his family's troubles have taken a sinister new form. The threats intensify as more bizarre phenomena occur, from objects moving on their own to grotesque shadows flickering just beyond the treeline. The group grows increasingly unraveled, realizing their horror stories have manifested in reality. Just as they prepare to flee, the entity reveals itself - an amalgamation of all their personal demons given form. In a harrowing final showdown, the friends must confront their individual struggles while banding together against this malevolent force. Those who cannot let go of their inner demons fall victim to the entity's wrath. Only those able to break free from their personal horrors survive until dawn, though they will forever be haunted by the whispers in the dark.
