Synopsis/Details
CLEAR CREEK BLUFFS HOA is a ONE-HOUR DRAMEDY over three seasons about diverse suburban neighbors who band together to survive after a devastating financial crisis that plunges them into a new dystopian reality.
Season 1 depicts the abrupt changes in their lives and their responses to the crises they face. Season 2 sees them hit their stride, uniting wits and resources to face less-prepared interlopers. They carve out a cool, utopian groove for themselves. In Season 3, the financial crisis resolves. But as society moves back towards its previous order, Clear Creek Bluffs HOA members don't want to give up the new world they've created. They dig in. Hard.
To shield themselves from mounting societal scrutiny, wealth-hoarding BILLIONAIRES launch into their trajectory toward their Mars Colony. We meet future antagonist SYLVIE (33), who serves them kombucha and whom they fire. Before their departure, they transfer their disproportionate wealth to non-conventional assets, crippling the banking system that immediately plunges the CCB HOA members into a "cash-only" economy.
Divorced nurse and mother of two teens, Paige is buying groceries to feed her kids when her credit card is declined. She pays for her items with her last twenty-dollar bill. It's the first in a string of repercussions from the Billionaires' economy crash. When Paige turns to fast-talking selfish ex-husband PHILLIP for extra cash, he reluctantly gives her ten dollars and lectures her on her poor money management.
Realtor and HOA President RAE LYNN (50) flirts with neighbor OBREGÓN, who holds an MBA, as he offers insights into the crisis. Always eager to interact with Obregón, Rae Lynn cites him for HOA violations like lawn height. But when Rae Lynn learns Obregón keeps loads of cash on hand, she uses her enforcement power to embezzle from him.
After Paige hitches a ride to work with a farmer on a tractor, then walks four miles home, she persuades son BOWEN (13) to steal cash from Phillip on an overnight visit. He learns of the betrayal and confronts Paige.
Clear Creek Bluffs HOA Members gather for a community meeting. But minor league preppers and gun nuts, GERRY (65), and NANCY's (65) safety demonstration goes sideways when Nancy accidentally fires a gun she's demonstrating. Paige brings tainted hummus to the potluck, making neighbor CARLOS (40) sick. Carlos's wife, KATIE (40), has a drinking problem exacerbated by stress.
Carlos and Katie's oldest son, EMILIANO (17), and Maddie Lindstrom fall in love as their dreams of leaving Rodeolitos to attend college go down the drain. Issues of teenage dating arise, heightening both conflict and humor.
By the end of the pilot episode, HOA Members have lost the internet, cellular service, and electricity. Phillip decides to stay at Paige's to "protect" the family. Paige refuses, but Phillip insists.
In the last scene, Phillip picks up a mysterious hitchhiker with a duffle bag full of hundred dollar bills who turns out to be server Sylvie from the opening International Billionaire Group scene. She received a boatload of cash in an employee harassment settlement, and she's on her way to Clear Creek Bluffs to stir up trouble.
