Synopsis/Details
One night a burglar breaks in Agathe, the 65-year-old, disabled woman’s house. When he realizes, that he ran into an eye witness, he decides to kill the old lady.
The woman turns to be blind and mistakes him for her son. The burglar accepts the game and plays along pretending he is Timmy, the woman’s son. He is just about to leave, when Agathe admits that there is a half million dollar in cash hidden in the house and she is willing to give it to her son for buying a house. Unfortunately, she forgot where she hid it.
The burglar stays and tries everything to find the money.
He becomes polite and nice, as it fits an obedient, well-behaved son. He prepares hot chocolate and tells a fable about money. Agathe offers him a month-old fruit cake admitting that this has been her son’s favourite, but the burglar rather prefers eating the apple sauce found in the fridge.
The burglar looks for the hidden money everywhere. While searching, Agathe urges him to clean up the basement and the attic – if he scours about there, anyway.
Finally, when he realizes that there is no money in the house, he wants to strangle her, but feels weak and tired. Confronting Agathe he learns that the apple sauce contained crushed sedative, because - due to swallowing problems - this is how the woman takes her medication.
Before he falls asleep, he learns that the woman is not blind and she has no son – the whole game was staged by Agathe to save herself.
When the burglar falls asleep, Agathe calls the police and she mentions to the surprised officer, that capturing the burglar was only a “piece of cake”.
