Beautiful mansion, the husband just arrives home. He finds his wife in adultery situation with a man. After a short fight he brutally kills them both. Sarah Leland, the new junior executive DA, starts her first work day at Travis County District Attorney Building. Hon. Gwen Parker, Chief DA, shows her around the office. She gets to know her supervisor and colleagues. Her new boss, Jerry Owen, introduces her Kevin Sinclair, a handsome prosecutor, with whom Sarah has already had an embarrassing affair in the parking lot soon before. The young man prepares Sarah to the ongoing court case. The gavel hits the table. The judge announces: the defendant is not guilty. Half of the room breaks into cheers, the other half are outraged hearing the verdict. Back in the DA Office the DA and his crew talk about the case. A famous black baseball player, who killed his wife and her secret lover in cold blood, just got away with his terrible crime. The lawyers are sure he is guilty. Sarah is disappointed. When she visits her family, she complains about the court failure. Her parents and her twin sister, Jen, who works as a makeup artist at a film studio, try to comfort her, but she is deeply disappointed with right and justice. When she decides to give up her career, Jen comes up with a dreadful idea. The next day Jen shows up at work instead of Sarah, while her lawyer sister pays a visit at the celebrity to execute the death sentence.
