Alien Revelation

A woman, EVE MASON, the glue of her family, takes refuge underground in the family’s new shelter with her domineering husband, THOMAS, drug addicted son, ALAN and nyctophobic daughter, NINA, as a long anticipated alien invasion begins; but unexpected problems and untold secrets soon turn their safe haven into a soggy second war zone as seeping water coming in through cracks in the shelter’s cement walls from explosions above leave them with rising water and faulty safety devises that were meant to free the family in such a circumstance. Despair at the realization of being trapped with no way out is compounded by the accidental shooting of Nina, when Alan, in a frantic, uses the gun meant to protect them on reentry to the surface, as a hammer to force a locked door to the shelter’s control room open, discharges and strikes his sister. Alan withdraws to himself in his guilty despair committing suicide while the others sleep as Nina succumbs to her wound. Eve’s sanity disintegrates refusing to believe her daughter is dead but only sleeping instead. As water rises and the shelter walls begin to crumble Eve begs Thomas to use the gun on her and Nina to save them from drowning in their own backyard. Before Thomas can complete Eve’s request a large piece of the ceiling drops pinning Thomas and the gun beneath it. With the unstoppable water now flowing freely into the shelter Eve takes control and Nina into her arms and grabs onto as much remaining wall as she can as the two rise with the water to the large hole above them beneath the starlit night. With the assistance of the passing military above Eve escapes with Nina to the war above. Her rescuers explain the planet’s plight and the world’s leaders agreed on solution. A solution Eve surmises is nothing more than a continuation of her living nightmare.
