Amira

A meeting takes place at an Egyptian desert town. TAREQ is informed by ATWA, a member of the Islamic religious council, that Tareq has been chosen to carry out a religious decree (Fatwa) against an Egyptian / American actress named AMIRA, living in the US. The council, Atwa explains, believes Amira had committed adultery by appearing naked in a video clip, therefore, she must pay the ultimate price for her shameful act as a Muslim woman. Tareq accepts the assignment, which will begin by watching and observing Amira until he receives further instructions from Atwa. The same explanation of the Fatwa is given to HICHAM, Amira’s brother, at a meeting of the Islamic council. Hicham accepts the Fatwa but keeps it as a secret from his mother. Tareq arrives in America and begins shadowing Amira, who lives at a secluded beachfront home in Malibu. One night, Tareq sees another man looming outside the house, the stranger then breaks in and attacks Amira. Tareq intervenes and fights off the intruder. Amira eventually offers him a job as her personal bodyguard. Tareq accepts. Tareq overhears a heated conversation between Amira and her manager JULIAN, in which Julian tells her about a multi-million dollar offer to star in a movie with nudity scenes. She refuses adamantly. This surprises Tareq and confirms his suspicion that Amira might be innocent, but when he relates this to Egypt, he gets an extremely angry response from Atwa, who accuses him of falling for Amira, who, according to Atwa, is a “lying snake”. Atwa goes on to tells Tareq that he must carry out the Fatwa immediately. Tareq hesitates, but eventually accepts, and finally reveals his true identity and intentions to Amira, who suffers a complete breakdown. Amira manages to collect herself and tells Tareq her side of the story, of how she was forced to marry an old, abusive man, at a very young age and how she was forced to flee to America. Tareq is shocked when he learns that the abusive man is no other than Atwa, who fabricated the video clip and lied to everyone just to have Amira killed.. A sudden appearance by a drunken Julian, who was angered by Amira’s refusal of the movie offer, and his attempt to rape Amira, sparks a savage fight between him and Tareq. Tareq wins the fight but not before Julian shoots him. In his last breath, Tareq asks a crying Amira to forgive him, he then closes his eyes. The truth is revealed, the Fatwa withdrawn and Atwa punished. A final scene of Amira knocking on a door, her brother Hicham opens and emotions run high as the family reunites again. Tareq (thought to be dead by audience) makes a dramatic appearance alongside Amira..
