Synopsis/Details
Odin is young, fearful boy who lacks confidence. He wears an eyepatch while recovering from surgery to repair an eye injured from an accident. His mother, Helen, takes him and his sister, Iris, to a remote mountain campground for the weekend.
While unpacking, they realize Odin forgot to bring the medication for his healing eye, so Helen drives to town to get his meds.
When a mysterious purple glow fills the sky over the campground, most of the campers gather to watch the unusual phenomenon.
The family misses most of the event as Odin hides from bullies in a cabin, Iris explores a cave and Helen drives up the mountain.
The violet light suddenly flashes brightly, blinding the assembled campers with a burning intensity. These unfortunates are left with bleached-white eyes and display strangely aggressive behavior.
As the purple radiance fades away, Odin exits the cabin, Iris leaves the cave and Helen drives towards the camp. All three glimpse the dissipating lavender glow just before it disappears.
They are blinded also, but aren’t affected as drastically as those who received a full exposure of the otherworldly brilliance.
Stricken blind while driving on the winding mountain road, Helen crashes her SUV and is trapped in the wreckage on a cliff’s edge.
Odin discovers that his recovering eye was protected by the eyepatch and he’s still able to see, albeit poorly, with this eye.
The others who received a full dosage of the strange illumination, become crazed, violently attacking Odin in a bizarre belief that harvesting his eyes will somehow restore their destroyed vision.
Blindness and insanity aren’t the only effects of the violet light, the affected campers experience a rapid gruesome decay originating around their eyes, as if exposed to radiation.
Relying on the blurred vision of his healing eye, Odin leads Iris through the woods to save Helen while pursued by the maddened campers. Despite being unable to see, the others pose a formidable threat with their numbers, clever tactics and relentlessness.
After barely surviving a harrowing escape down the mountain, the family reaches a small town whose townspeople were also blinded by the violet illumination, with many of them behaving erratically.
Odin discovers the purple light’s source is a group of grotesque aliens who take advantage of the blind townsfolk and feed on them.
The foul creatures are slow, weak and lack eyes. They are only able to prey upon blinded, disoriented humans. Odin realizes that he alone is the one person who will be able to defeat them.
