Synopsis/Details
Briana is an older woman with a terminal illness who plans to end her life. Before doing so, she calls her estranged daughter, Sara, to say goodbye. Sara’s girlfriend, Cortez, tells Briana that Sara was on a road trip and disappeared.
Though Briana and Cortez intensely dislike each other, they travel to the small town Sara stayed at before she vanished. Suspecting one of the townsfolk may be holding Sara against her will, they make subtle inquiries about her around town.
While searching for Sara, they stay at a boarding house owned by Augie, a spunky woman in her sixties. Augie is assisted by her handyman, Burt, who is a slow-witted giant of a man.
When Briana and Cortez stumble upon possible evidence about Sara’s disappearance, her abductors, Augie and Burt, realize the two women may have uncovered proof of their involvement.
After drugging and tying up Briana and Cortez, Augie reveals that she and Burt have been abducting people for years and are the ones who kidnapped Sara when she stayed the night.
To explain the reason for the abductions, Augie tells them about Amy, her daughter. Amy lives in a cage and requires a special diet of “skull meat”, their term for human brains.
Informing the two women that they’re the next course on Amy’s menu, Augie uses a cranial drill to remove a section of their skulls which allows Amy to feed upon their exposed brains.
Cortez gets free and attacks Burt, causing him to flee. Augie kills Cortez while Briana watches helplessly, still tied up.
Seeing a sad, starved young woman in a filthy cage, Briana realizes Amy is a victim of Augie’s madness and was forced into cannibalism. Briana tells Amy she doesn’t blame her.
Sympathetic to Briana’s disease-ravaged body and moved by her forgiveness, Amy unties Briana and helps her kill Augie. When Briana frees Amy, she tells Briana that Burt was smitten with Sara and secretly took her away before Amy could feed on her.
At Burt’s shack, Briana finds Sara locked in a dog cage. Before she can free Sara, Burt enters. Briana and Burt fight, knocking over a candle and starting the place on fire.
Briana shoots Burt, wounding him but is unable to find the key to Sara’s cage. As Burt’s home burns, Sara begs Briana to kill her before she burns to death. Briana refuses.
Amy finds a spare key for the lock. Briana frees Sara and they flee the burning shack. After Briana, Sara and Amy embrace, mother and daughter leave. Amy brings tools to where Burt lies helpless and prepares to eat his skull meat.
