Synopsis/Details
Former Marine Harrison Weber is an estranged father suffering from PTSD and alcoholism, having escaped the everyday family life in Colorado Springs for the solitude of a cabin in the Rocky Mountains. His best friend, Dwayne, who lives nearby tries to help him out when he can, as he does when Harrison is caught drunk driving after a rough night at the beginning of our story. Getting bailed out by Dwayne, Harrison is surprised the next morning by a visit from his family that he forgot about. Holly, his estranged wife, is pissed at him for being in a haggard state, but his kids Wes and Maya are excited to go hunting with him. Miraculously, while out on the hunt the former Marine witnesses an alien spaceship crash to Earth and is the first on the scene to see it up close, having been separated from his kids. Upon encountering a creature escaping the ship Harrison is zapped unconscious. Coming to, Harrison is frightened at what he’s seen and rushes to meet his children, but not before leaving without hard video evidence and a mysterious spherical device from the ship that he stows away. Harrison’s PTSD is triggered and he begins to act paranoid and jumpy for the rest of his kid’s visit, still processing what he’s seen. He is especially triggered when they are target practicing and his son Wes accidentally points a rifle near his sister’s head, causing him to fly into a rage. In town Holly works as a local news reporter and is tasked with covering a supposed plane crash that has taken place near Harrison’s property. She sympathizes with her husband’s plight, knowing his fragile subconscious must be getting triggered by the carnage and emergency activity at his front door. She takes a team of reporters to get video of the crash, sending out a drone from a mountain to spy on the scene. But the drone is shot down quickly by a sniper’s bullet, showing the government cover-up in process. She is told by her own station to stop pursuing information on the crash and to accept the story given by the government of a military plane crash. Holly is less than enthused to accept the cover-up. We are then introduced to the team of government agents who are working to contain and study the crashed spaceship. A dome is constructed to keep prying eyes out and military personnel are tasked with finding the escaped alien in the forest. While most scientists working on the site are following orders and keeping their mouths closed, one scientist, Dr. Colson, is eager to sneak out hard evidence and begins figuring out how he can elude the physical and digital barriers around their study. After Holly picks up the kids Harrison examines the spherical device from the ship except it doesn’t seem to be able to open or be activated at all. He takes the mysterious orb and video evidence to Dwayne who is less than impressed with the accuracy of his story. It kills Harrison that his friend believes in Bigfoot, but won’t believe his true story about aliens. But when the orb suddenly shocks Dwayne, he agrees to go on a spy mission to check out the crash site on his Marine friend’s property. When they get close to the site and see the protective dome the next night, they are chased off by military and government agents who can sense the energy from the ship that Harrison still carries on his body. Buzzed with excitement the friends then work together to open up the mysterious orb at Dwayne’s workshop. They are able to activate the orb, but unwittingly it triggers a switch on the spaceship back at the crash site. As the scientist Dr. Colson works on his studies, the switch opens a large door on the ship which unleashes a massive dog-like creature that kills him and trashes the site, preventing him from taking a secret disc off-site to expose the cover up. The activated orb also allows another alien presence in the area to pick up its location, causing a ship to touch down on Harrison’s property when he returns home. At the very end of the first episode our anti-hero protagonist Harrison is abducted into a ship just like the one that crashed where anything could happen next…
