
Synopsis/Details
In a medieval English town a troubadour sings about an imminent beheading. When he ends his song the executioner beheads him. Next up is MILDRED HAWKINS, an unattractive spinster. She stands accused of witchcraft. The issue is to be settled in trial by combat. Representing the state is a fierce knight. This convinces any would be champions for Mildred to choose discretion. The town crier feels sad for Mildred but the burning must go on. He talks her into making a good show on it by casting some curses and going out with a cackle.
