Synopsis/Details
Recently renowned artist, Oz Babcock has just completed the second sculpture in The Volatile Series, Volatile Part Deux. The only problem is his longtime girlfriend and model, Annabelle is an absolute menace, flooding galleries, setting exhibits on fire, and turning things upside down. All kooky fun love until she destroys his previous art and takes off with their cat, Mellow. His days and nights are spent in agony, unable to create and he finds himself in a hardcore relationship addiction group called “Get Over Them!” with his Whippit-addicted, recently divorced maintenance man, Pauly. There, Oz meets Dakota, a co-dependent wanna-be artist who gets his creative juices going when she puts on one of Annabelle’s abandoned dresses, prompting him to propose that she imitate her, in dress and mannerisms, including her destructive behavior as inspiration to finish the series. Soon, the replacement for Mellow, an old Calico named Stinky Cat, dies, and Dakota begins to lose her motivation, demanding to see Annabelle in person. She becomes obsessed, stalking her, turning her into her lover, drawing her endlessly as Oz runs makeshift classes on how to be her. But, when they end up trapping Annabelle in the bathroom behind a car windshield after a brutal murder, they have to decide what they’re really willing to risk for love and art.

The Writer: Brandi Self

Produced, Award-Winning Screenwriter I create surreal, carefully constructed stories that dissect love, morality, oppression, identity, perception, alienation, and stagnation by catapulting characters into sometimes absurdly juxtaposed worlds where they must use self-examination as a tool for escape and redemption. Influences: Ari Aster Rod Serling/Twilight Zone Charlie Kaufman David Lynch Franz Kafka Background: I guess it all began with me hanging out of the back of a moving van as I threw raw meat to an angry grizzly bear, hoping the cameraman could get the perfect shot. Yeah, I started in production, reality television to be exact. But, it wasn’t all bad, I got to party with rock stars… Go to bio
