Synopsis/Details
“Explode” is written along the lines of films such as “In Bruges” and “Burn after Reading”. This out-of-the-box and dual protagonist story is about MARIANNE, a lethal MMA juggernaut who comes home for the winter to visit her ex-boxing champion father and to lay low for a while after getting into some trouble back in Chicago. Marianne arrives in her native town of Brooklyn and straight into a different kind of fight, one against the mob, thanks to her cousin GIACOBBE, an awkward funeral home worker. Giacobbe is asked by the local psychopath gangster, Anthony “CROWBAR” DeLuca, to help prepare his recently deceased sister’s body for burial. Giacobbe agrees to the difficult request as the girl was his secret idee fixe. Emotions get the better of Giacobbe and he has a lapse of ethical judgment during the job, the act of which is filmed by the opportunistic local drunk, SHAKY. Shaky attempts to blackmail Giacobbe but fails so he pays Crowbar a visit which kicks off armageddon and now, Marianne and Giacobbe must work together to survive the local mob and an unexpected visit from Marianne’s troubled past from Chicago. I believe the gripping storylines and high stakes in “Explode” will appeal to a very wide audience. Please let me know if I can send you the script, and thank you for your time and consideration. Best regards, Michael Akobi.
