Synopsis/Details
On a sunny, windy day one summer, nine-year old Emily and six-year old Sam ready their lemonade stand. Their just out of town home is complete with a small vegetable garden, a few berry bushes, and a chicken coop of chickens, which they love dearly. And the chickens love them right back!
But just as their lemonade stand opens, a strong gust of wind blasts their chickens -- and the coop -- right out of their backyard.
Emily and Sam search the neighborhood with Mom and Dad to find their beloved chickens, but there is no sign of bird or coop.
The airborne coop lands a mile away, a little banged up, but intact, with the chickens frightened and lost. Roosters Henry Wooster and Emperor, along with fifteen hens (including bantams), work together through trial and error, and summon the courage to attempt flying their coop back home.
With hen Lavira's brooding eggs getting cold at home, it's every wing on deck to make the unthinkable happen (and get a little help from house cat CatJacqui).
As Emily and Sam pine for their pet chickens, and hope for the impossible, the hens, led by Dolcie, Stacy-Q, and Millie's ingenuity, utilize what the wind blew away with them to fly their coop home.
Truly making them the home of the Hen Gliders.
