Synopsis/Details
Set in Belfast, the year 2000, Ash has just finished School and has no idea what he wants to do. The series follows as Ash moves in different circles and tries to figure out what to do with his life. The circles will have some characters in common but are generally quite different from each other. Some are friends from school with a shared interest, or a friend of a friends group, or workmates from a new job. Ash’s is able to fit in these different groups, while not becoming a permanent fixture. Recurring characters Greenman and Dean are forces of calm and chaos respectively, and both regularly come into contact with Ash, as he tries to navigate life. The future Ash is also on hand to offer extra insight and information about the unfolding events, in the form of a voiceover narrator. The aim of the series is to use the experiences Ash has, to highlight the fact that it doesn’t matter what you’re into, (hobbies, work, music, cultures), there are fundamental things that we all have in common and someone nice is nice no matter what they’re in to or look like. And equally some one who is a A-hole is always going to be an A-hole. The overall feel and style of the show is somewhere between Peep Show and The Inbetweeners. Ideally the series music would be the song “Float On” by Modest Mouse, as it was a big song at the time and matches the title. All other music will be specific to the time.
