Synopsis/Details:

A year after the death of their parents, siblings Mila and Rick Santos are barely getting by. A stream of odd jobs won’t help them keep the family home. But one of those jobs leads them to Dr. Krauss, an archeologist who spent his life researching long-lost treasures. Mila and Rick aid Krauss in finding two treasures for a quick payout. Now on their third mission, the siblings march through a swamp on the hunt for a Spanish artifact — a Golden Gear.

The path is treacherous, but the team manages to arrive at a temple beneath the ground. As Mila, Rick and Krauss drop in, they are betrayed. To make matters worse, a mythical tribe — the Lechuza (the Owls) said to protect the artifact turns out to be all too real. The team is trapped beneath the ground and left to die.

The team comes upon a room where the Golden Gear is kept. In his excitement, Krauss is killed. Mila finds the Gear while Rick finds a way out. But in the process of trying to escape Rick is injured. On the verge of death, the siblings are surrounded by the Lechuza and their fate is sealed …

Mila wakes up in a hospital. Her and Rick are safe, but the gear is gone.

Mila wants to continue to investigate the Lechuza but Rick reminds his sister of their reality. They won’t be able to keep the family home but Mila doesn’t want to consider moving. Rick pleads with his sister to take a job and leave the treasure hunting behind. She agrees. But that night, Mila secretly heads to Dr. Krauss’ home in the hopes of finding more research.

After breaking into Krauss' home, Mila meets Atomic, Krauss' nerdy, teenage niece. Mila finds the research but also confronts members of the Lechuza who also come to the house for the same reason. After a quick fight that puts Mila’s combat skills on display, the Lechuza pull out guns and take the research.

The following morning Mila and Rick argue about their future. Rick scolds Mila when Atomic calls with a cryptic message from her uncle. Krauss left a message to Mila and Rick whom he considered noble people. The message includes a mountain of information regarding lost treasures around the world. Mila convinces Rick to take one mission that would help them stave off losing the family home. Rick reluctantly agrees.

Mila and Rick reach a warehouse where a famous photograph is according to Krauss’ research. Rick keeps watch while Mila heads inside. She finds the painting, but the Lechuza show up, making her escape more difficult. Mila and Rick work together to fight off the Lechuza and narrowly escape with the photograph. To Mila’s surprise, a diagram for a mechanical globe is hidden in the frame. One of the pieces of the globe is the Golden Gear.

Mila and Rick get their reward money. And Rick reluctantly tells Mila she was right.

Mila, Rick, and Atomic discuss the diagram when the Lechuza show up again. The ominous group offers one final warning to the siblings while burning the diagram. After the Lechuza leave, the group agrees to continue to work together to find another lost treasure, effectively forming Fortune Incorporated.
