Synopsis/Details
This story is born from my interest in and support of a simpler life. I often think about what it would be like to live with less money and have the freedom to do what I want with my time. The story takes place in a fictitious county within the splendid beauty of the rugged plains of Northern Arizona. Amongst the blue skies and wide open country. John Cain a homesteader plans to sell pumpkins to support his life in the desert. He works part time at a grocery store. He drives a vintage truck and wears a cowboy hat. Deep down inside he really wants to live a carefree life on his homestead. But, he doesn’t know it yet. Cain’s life is upended when a greedy corporate executive, DANIEL RICHARDS uses him to control solar panel sales in his area. With the help of his minion JERRY, a yes-man salesman. They plot to jail Cain on terrorism charges. Richards wants to show his father DAMIAN RICHARDS, that he can be the ruthless business man that he is. Damian’s rival former president WILLIAM HAROLD HARRISON, is also an investor in this enterprise and they compete against each other for control over the business. This story takes a turn for the worst for Cain when he refuses to pay an exorbitant price for a solar system. Sheriff LARRY HANCOCK, a tough lawman who sports a mean scowl. Under the control of Richards, Hancock arrests Cain on false charges. They find things Cain uses to live on the homestead. They use them to show he is dangerous. Black powder weapons, guns and survival manuals. Cain faces losing his homestead as well as his freedom. Cain gets help from CLIFF an old hippie who loves to listen to Willie Nelson. Cliff introduces Cain to AMY, a lawyer and MIRANDA who fights against corporate greed to protect the environment. They fight for the little guy. Cain is also aided by a tough judge, SIMMONS who is threatened by Harrison. Judge Simmons questions the motives of Harrison, Richards and Murray. Harrison is aided by MURRAY, a tough lawyer with a military intelligence background. BARRY, a ruthless investigator. Barry and Murray Scheme. Plot, and digs up dirt on Cain. Together they work to stop Cain from proving his innocence. Harrison is still fighting for his climate change agenda, even though he is no longer president. He is a person who hates to fail. And always wants the attention of the limelight. He pushes Richards to succeed with his plan. Lilliane, a spit and polished reporter is used by Richards and Harrison. Murray enlists Cain’s ex wife, TRINITY to help spin a web of lies and deceit to win over the jury. Trinity does an interview with Lillane and sensationalizes past events in Cain’s life. With Amy’s help Cain sets up a court battle. Cliff and Miranda help Cain gather evidence. They meet WINDY, another homesteader who was forced to lie and work for Richards. Cain is beaten-up when he attempts to take a lie detector test. It appears he has failed. Both sides have gathered evidence and prepare for the final court battle.
