Synopsis/Details
In the year 2050, the desert city of Apricor has fallen into a decrepit state. MAXWELL WINSTON SMITH, a special-ops team leader, leads a military unit, the Themis program. Which is tasked with removing guns from the streets and bringing order to a dangerous city. Max feels badly about a past mistake and desires that the people of Apricor are relieved from their suffering. Max’s beliefs in equality and justice are tested when he escorts a prisoner to a rehabilitation center. Max’s eyes are opened to the reality of this dark place. He begins to question the rehabilitation centers purpose. Either release REINE PROMISE, who seeks justice for her mother’s death, or be responsible for Reine’s death by recapturing her. Max is backed by his best friend HAMID HAMADI, and his second in command, DANNY BOLTHOUSE. Hamid is conflicted about where his loyalties lie. Danny is envious of Max and wants his job. She also seeks a promotion in which Max is set to receive when the Themis program goes coalition wide. Danny is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Max’s mentor JOHN MARTINET rules the dystopian city with an iron fist. He controls the limited resources in the city. He appears to fight for justice for his beloved wife Alice, who was taken from him by gun violence. Martinet questions Max’s loyalty to him. Danny plants incriminating files in Max’s apartment. Danny sets Max up for the murder of a suspect. He is charged with the suspects death and faces the death penalty. Max becomes a fugitive. Max with Reine’s assistance, investigates the Themis program. They are chased through the ruins of what was once a great city. Max finds evidence that his long time mentor is not the person he believes he is. Max fights against his need to be accepted by Martinet. TARA TILLOTSON, a reporter, helps him uncover the truth. Max only has seventy two hours to stop Martinet from creating a totalitarian coup. Danny captures Reine and uses her as bait to lure Max into a trap. With the pain of his past hanging over his head, Max refuses to leave Reine to die. Martinet has the upper hand and Max has failed. Hamid follows his conscience and backs Max. Max rescues Reine and takes down Danny. They get the evidence to Tara and the review board. In the end Max learns that freedom is worth fighting for. And that you must question authority. The city is saved from Martinet and his desire to create a totalitarian coup. In the year 2050, a rugged special-ops team leader, burdened by a past mistake, works to protect the dystopian city of Apricor from gun violence, until his mentor betrays him, forcing him to fight for his freedom. The Program is in the vane of Minority Report and The Fugitive.
