Tattoo artist, Marie Summers, is on house arrest and can't leave her house for another two days. While tattooing a customer, she gets a flashback when she sees a man named Carlos, one of the men responsible for murdering her family when she was a child. Off house arrest, Marie goes to the beach and encounters Carlos again. Taking a swim in the ocean, Carlos nearly drowns but is saved by Marie. In disbelief for what she's done when she should let Carlos die. In debt to her, Carlos invites her for dinner on his yacht. L.A.P.D detective Charlie Wheeler is on a stake out, watching Marie and Carlos, listening with the help of a waiter. Carlos tries to be intimate Marie; Marie shuts it down early and returns home. Set for another date, Marie accepts another date on Carlos's sailboat. While sailing, Marie takes over sailing. Back at the docks, Marie returns but in disguise, it's really Charlie, framing Marie for Carlos's disappearance. Receiving orders to keep his eyes on Marie, Charlie stays on her, following her to the gym but doing so as to give her lie detector test for the truth about Carlos's disappearance. While at the gym, Marie meets T.A. A trainer and volleyball coach. Quickly taking a liking to him, things move fast. Charlie is quickly discovered by Marie while watching her, Marie insults Charlie's former partner and her cousin for turning her away when she was 8 years old and is punched for it. Returning to Marie, Charlie makes amends with her and the two make a trip to visit Nicholas, Marie's cousin. Years ago, Marie got into a fight with Faith, Nicholas's daughter, over Marie's brother's hat. Things go south when the two women get into an argument and fight, Nicholas referee a real fight that makes them find peace. With a peace offering, Marie gives Nicholas, Charlie and Faith baseball caps. After his brother's funeral, Luis is visited by Charlie who shows her true colors that she's a dirty cop, working with him. Informing the cartel boss that Marie passed the test and is not the one that killed him. Luis rewards Charlie with a watch for her troubles. While getting a visit from Charlie and giving her the tattoo she wants, Marie spots the watch that she was given. She becomes suspicious of her and goes looking into what she's up to. Marie breaks into Charlie's apartment but is subdued by T.A. Charlie's son. When Charlie informs Marie that she recruited Luis and Carlos as her cartel bosses, she took evidence and hid it on Nicholas's land. Believing she fooled her former partner, Nicholas knew all along and wants to make an exchange. Marie for the evidence. With her son in her corner, Nicholas waits. Just when T.A. thinks he can attack, he is killed by a land mine. Hurt and angry by her only son's death, Charlie tells Marie that she is responsible for her family's death. Charlie confronts Nicholas but Nicholas sees her eagerness as a weakness and tells Marie to run. Tricking Charlie into chasing Marie onto the field. She steps onto a land mine and her legs are blown off. Disabling her. Able to move on together, Marie returns to her life and meets a man named Joe. Finding love together, Marie and Joe get married and are pregnant with twins. No legs, no job and no one left, Charlie is institutionalized. Marie returns to visit Nicholas and sees him in his weakened condition. He asks her to never do what he did and to protect her family. One day at the beach, Marie and Joe take their newborn twins to the beach. Her Orderly gets her out of the institution and takes her to the same beach as her. Charlie takes the twins. Her fear of her children going missing comes true. Getting word that a lady took the newborn's; Marie finds them in Charlie's possession. She returns home but goes back to the beach with a gun to finish Charlie off. When Charlie has mentally lost all her sanity, Marie can't bring herself to end her. She takes her to a playground and leaves her. Feeling she has done the good over the bad.
