Synopsis/Details
Dr. Sandra Lee is an early human anthropologist who's always dreamed of discovery and adventure. When a geneticist from 23andMe offers her an opportunity to head up her own expedition into Borneo, looking for fossil remains of our closest nonhuman ancestor, The Denisovans, she jumps at the chance to contribute something meaningful to her field.
In tandem with her husband, Nicalo, and the geneticist Dr. Osman, they arrive in Borneo looking for clues that might help them start their search. In a small, rainforest-side village, they meet a sickly old woman, Mak Gua, who enlists their help in exchange for information. Mak Gua knows of a secret cave location where the scientists can find LIVING DENISOVANS!
The scientists agree to the terms. They will bring back the Denisovan's special fruit, which makes healing wine in exchange for a guide through the jungle to the cave of the Denisovans.
Led by Mak Gua's grandson, a young boy named Afan, the troop heads into the jungle on their journey to the cave. Along the way they face challenges and nearly risk their lives, only to come to a point of almost giving up. In a desperate moment of crisis, a group of Warrior Denisovans save them.
Back at the cave, the travelers learn how to interact with these ancient and revered beings and come to understand their culture is deep and withstanding. The Denisovans share ceremonial wine with the travelers and teach them about a Spirit that protects them and their cave.
Hope is shattered when Dr. Lee discovers her husband and Dr. Osman have devised a plot against her to exploit the Denisovans to steal their wine and sell it to the world as The Fountain of Youth.
Dr. Lee, must decide if she will protect the community from exploitation, or succumb to her own desire for fame and notoriety for such an incredible discovery.
