Synopsis/Details
It is Bavaria in the year of our lord nineteen sixty-nine the world is caught in a cold conflict, East Vs. West. KARL SCHMELLER, 6, and loving German mother, ANYA, 29, spend as much time together reading a romantic legend LOHENGRIN as they can for Anya is headed to the other side to compete in a biathlon in the East, yet what young Karl is unaware of is his mother moonlights as an runner for German intelligence helping defectors across to the West. Unfortunately she is apprehended and Karl must endure a life without his mother as she is hung for treason.
Years later Karl just of age is forced to help a friend, MILA, 17 who gets trapped in the East and needs help to cross back over after her contact is killed. Karl is now drawn into the world of espionage and soon trained by Mentor HANS AUBER, 53, for what is to be in Vail a Goodwill symphony tour, but underneath they are to perform specific assassinations of individuals who have masterminded an invasion of a sovereign nation. All goes as planned until the mission is foiled and Hans is captured sending Karl alone across the fence back into the West broken by betrayal.
The cold war melts into peace and Karl goes into isolation., while his mentor Hans is left for dead in the Gulag slowly sinks into a depression, but an old Communist Stassi/Atheist WALTER, 74, a fellow prisoner left with the same fate requests a story to pass the time in the old Gulag. Hans beaten from torture digs deep and continues where Anya left off with the old legend. A beautiful yet tragic love story attracts prisoners down the hall, yet Hans hears of a plot to reunify a Red Storm and possibly send the world into a much more heated conflict by an old Italian Intelligence trophy captured many ages ago. Roman finds a way to allow a piano in the court for all to listen even a thawed out warden, CHERNOV, 64, Time is running out and their plot is perfect. Only from the heart broken Swan Knight's legend is he able to smuggle notes out of prison with Walter to his old pupil. Karl heads out to intercept the men behind the plot and kill them one at a time. From prison Hans conducts his ultimate masterpiece while Karl plays the conspirers and Interpol by a trail of blood to the summit where it all comes down to a one shot to save the world.
