Synopsis/Details
"La La Land" meets "The Girlfriend Experience," Luxury Good is a dark comedy about Hollywood dreams, unlikely friendships, and the true cost of success. Shane Tasker, a struggling screenwriter in Los Angeles, is barely staying afloat working at a dead-end call center job while chasing his Hollywood dreams. When he unexpectedly lands an opportunity to write a remake of the Blaxploitation classic Foxy Brown, Shane thinks his big break has finally arrived. However, he quickly discovers that Hollywood’s promises come with compromises. Tasked with modernizing the story, Shane’s work collides with the unrealistic demands of his eccentric producer Orson and the egotistical actor-director attached to the project. As he juggles increasingly absurd script rewrites, Shane strikes up an unlikely friendship with Ava, a high-class escort who becomes his muse and an unexpected source of authenticity for his writing. Ava’s unapologetic honesty about her life and work forces Shane to confront his own insecurities, values, and aspirations. As Shane navigates the seedy underbelly of the entertainment industry, he begins to see parallels between Ava's commodified existence and his own compromises as an artist. Balancing humor, poignancy, and biting social commentary, Luxury Good explores the price of ambition and the humanity hidden behind transactional relationships.

The Writer: Scott Sawitz

I like to write character studies of complex, flawed people within a genre framework. My scripts are like my comedy; dark and thrilling with a dash of pop culture references mixed in with a heaping helping of fun. My feature film "Save State" is currently available to watch on Tubi, Amazon, FuboTV, iTunes, Fawesome TV and wherever proper indie films stream. I'm a four-time optioned screenwriter (features), a former freelance sports writer and all around funny guy... and my dog is cuter than yours. Go to bio
