Synopsis/Details
On a misty morning on the famous 5th Street Stairs in Santa Monica, Andrew 'Spike' Smith, a fit yet aging photographer, becomes captivated by Kaylee Parsons, a spirited young woman with a love for classic films and 60s rock. Despite their age difference, Spike and Kaylee's paths intertwine through a series of humorous and heartfelt encounters. Spike, struggling to sell his screenplay, finds unexpected inspiration in Kaylee. She challenges his perceptions, both professionally and personally, pushing him to rethink his creative process and his outlook on relationships. As they navigate their way through the superficiality of LA's entertainment industry, their bond deepens. Kaylee, with her unique blend of modern independence and old-fashioned charm, is the muse Spike needs. But she carries her own secrets, including a vow to remain offline and a tumultuous past that comes to light. Their journey is one of self-discovery, misunderstandings, and ultimately, mutual respect, admiration, and love. The narrative reaches its climax when Spike finally sells his script, thanks to Kaylee's influence. In a heartwarming twist, they decide to start a whisky distillery together, combining their dreams into a shared future. Set against the backdrop of Marina Del Rey, "May September" is a story about embracing life's unpredictable rhythms, finding love in unexpected places, and the transformative power of connection.

When I'm not writing I mentor students at UEA (The University of East Anglia) and help out photographing events at KITS (Kids in the Spotlight) - a charity to help foster kids by training them to write, cast, and star in their own short films. I'm the semi-official photographer\videographer for my kids' track club and take school event pix whenever I can. http://www.imdb.me/marklaing SAG and AFTRA actor.
