Synopsis/Details
1969. Silas Montgomery and Bridget Collins meet in a city park, facing a crossroads in a world that refuses to accept their forbidden, multiracial love. Present. Lawyer Monty Livingston discovers on an ancestry website that he's the son of Silas and Bridget. His loving half-sister, Jamila, invites him to the annual Montgomery reunion at the family's wooded resort, where he's immediately met with hostility from his other half-sister Yolanda, who resents his presence and out-of-wedlock history with their father. As Monty navigates the reunion, he meets their mother Pearl, uncovers dark family secrets and tries mightily to win over Yolanda, she summoning her supernatural gifts to challenge his reality at every turn. But Monty refuses to surrender his birthright, culminating in a blowout confrontation with Yolanda where he throws down the gauntlet in his need to understand his tangled roots and all that is his family.
