Synopsis/Details
Taylor is the consummate pro. She knows how to manage a law firm and knows how to charm guys to work on her aging parents' home. With each guy she brings over, her parents see potential for marriage, except her commitment begins and ends with each guy's skill set... ...until she encounters Elvis on a Christmas Eve TV interview, the Shelter The People volunteer helping build a home in rural Mississippi. Impressed with his working hands and good will, she procures a date. But the date doesn't go well after she learns he's a former pro skateboarder and disses his career, largely due to her ignorance about the lucrative sport. Humbled by his Internet presence, Taylor makes the case for a second chance and Elvis grudgingly goes along. She takes him home to meet her parents, only to learn he has no home improvement skills beyond the use of a wheelbarrow. While her parents want nothing to do with Elvis -- and he with Taylor -- her heart can't seem to shake him, his honesty and authenticity being traits not on her docket. To prove herself worthy, she develops a home improvement skill set of her own, becoming a Jill of all trades working on her parents' house. Holidays pass and Taylor’s need to live a more impactful life is met by the growing absence of one to share it with. A full Christmas Eve later, Taylor tracks Elvis to a Shelter The People homesite where she teaches her skeptical student how to hang a door. Elvis remains suspicious of her skills and intentions, Taylor ultimately convincing him that she not only knows how to use the tools at her disposal, but how to have an abundantly engaged heart.
