Synopsis/Details
Several years ago, an alien species landed on earth, infecting the human race with a mind controlling virus. Those infected don’t know they are until it’s activated within them. Forced experimental testing is now common place to detect it. Following the invasion and virus spread; towns and cities have been evacuated and people forced in to camps controlled by those now under alien control. There is an ongoing struggle between those not infected; living on the streets and those infected or working with the aliens to take control of everyone in camps. The alien species are not advanced so some of the human race is able to fight back to protect themselves. Despite the camps and evacuations, some people still roam the streets and live in the wild avoiding capture by the daily patrols. The patrols claim to be there for human safety but if they find anyone they will take them to the camps without question. The series follows those that are still outside the camps fighting for survival and a cure as well as those inside the camps having been captured/contained. Mystery surrounds the alien species and why they arrived on earth. When they landed and communication was opened, they were deemed not to be hostile but things changed when they started spreading the invisible virus. Their appearances in the open have been scarce for a long time and people are starting to wonder where they are. Many have never seen one before other than what has been broadcast. Rumours and much speculation is constantly circulating about this. Some believe they are not on earth any more. The alien species have control of the world leaders as well as important commodities needed to survive such as food, water and electricity. Those outside the camps have to fend for themselves and look for food and water and wait for power to return after daily scheduled blackouts. Some people are more successful at surviving than others. Those in the camps have supplies but cannot leave. They are rationed and have to work for their food etc. Scientists, in secret have been trying to find a cure for the virus and for a way to persuade the aliens to leave. Unfortunately, such efforts are being constantly hampered. The aliens are controlling spies everywhere and know exactly what the humans are trying to do to stop them. Some survivors are in denial about the virus and try not to let it affect their lives. They may be infected themselves or have a family member who is but ignore it. They will see what is really happening when the virus is activated and will have to help and change their lifestyle. Although an alien presence and sci fi genre, the series will not be set that far in to the future. They will not have flying cars and technology that is too far away from what currently exists. The main difference will be their weapons which will be more advanced than current technology and the scientific equipment that they use to detect and treat the virus. Vehicles, clothing and the way people live will be very similar to the present day.

The Writer: Mike Whittaker

I am a keen screenwriter from the UK. I studied Film Making and Digital Editing at The New York Film Academy in Los Angeles and have a BSc degree in Digital Media. I have written a number of TV pilots and am working on some feature film scripts as well. My main focus has been comedy and drama for TV but I have a variety of other genres also in development. Most recently I wrote a US style sit com then produced a table read filming of the pilot. It went very well and I am very happy with how it cut together. It would be great to go a step further and film the full pilot as I'm very proud of the project and believe it has potential. Go to bio
