Synopsis/Details
Harry Bowman is a verbally and physically abusive alcoholic and poker addict who has been making his wife, Marge's, life miserable for years. Marge is a woman trapped in a cycle of abuse, afraid to stay, afraid to leave. She tries to stand up to Harry, but he always gets his way, until the day she finds evidence of his affair with another woman. Marge is on the verge of filing for divorce when her daughter, Grace, hoping to save their marriage, tricks both Harry and Marge into meeting at a remote cabin, where there is no way out. Here, they must confront and overcome the demons of their past. Harry overcomes his alcoholism and his guilt about accidentally killing his brother when they were children. As he does this, he finds hope and comfort in an old bible left in the cabin, and he begins to see that he can start a new life with Christ at the center of it. Harry initially tries to convince Marge he is a changed man, but Marge's fear of Harry and her memories of her own abusive father, prevent her from believing his change is real. Marge kicks Harry out. But instead of leaving her as he said he would, Harry comes back, finally overcomes his fear of guns, and shoots at the bear which is trying to attack Marge, rescuing her. Marge realizes that Harry is not the same abusive Harry she had known throughout their marriage. Marge realizes that Christ has changed Harry and accepts Harry back into her life.
