Synopsis/Details
Nick, a disheartened 35 year old working in a car garage, dreams of a better life after a conversation with his successful uncle and cousin, who run a prosperous air conditioning business abroad. Eager for change after a breakup, Nick faces a roadblock in obtaining a working visa due to his incomplete university education. Undeterred, Nick discovers that his friend Alexis's cousin secured an artist visa as a singer in a band. Inspired, Nick hatches a plan to create a fake band, "Pure Vortex," with his friends to obtain artist visas and work for his uncle. Initially hesitant, his friends eventually embrace the idea, recruiting a talented drummer and leveraging the drummer's sister, a reporter, to craft a convincing backstory and generate media coverage. Balancing their day jobs as equipment movers with their new persona, the friends navigate the challenges of maintaining the fasade, culminating in a successful visa application. Excitedly, they embark on a journey to the foreign country, but upon arrival, immigration authorities expose their deception. Tasked with proving their musical prowess, the group finds themselves unable to perform, resulting in a dramatic airport chase, interrogation, and eventual deportation. Amidst the chaos, Nick manages to negotiate a way to stay in the foreign country to finish his education. Fate takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with the drummer's sister, the reporter. The two marry and start a family. Motivated by his newfound purpose, Nick eventually fulfills his entrepreneurial dreams, establishing his own air conditioning business in the foreign country aptly named Pure Vortex. The film concludes with Nick realizing that sometimes, the journey to success takes unexpected detours, but in the end, it's the resilience to adapt that leads to true fulfillment.
