Synopsis/Details
A small group of car enthusiasts – Kevin, lead racer; Annie – his lady; lanky Pete; Colin – his stepson; watchman Daniel; and Aussie Mick – simply want to get on with the thrill of pitting themselves against one another in their jazzed up cars. But when the police – one arrogant female officer in particular – have it in for them (namely Kev), how on earth can they do what they love most, without being hassled all night long?
After the police break up the first race of the night, the cruisers convene at another popular location, only to find it taken over by teenager hoons and wanna-be racers, partying hard, skinny dipping; and doing donuts on the patchy asphalt. Pointless even trying to get a race amongst all that.
They head off elsewhere, but once more, the authorities show up – albeit on the way to another call out. Facing defeat, our plucky group makes a third attempt to race; this one with a twist: it's mimed.
Later, they call it a night, but not a night out.
Too wired to go to bed, Kevin arrives at work early. His apprentice (Bex) shows up; a desperate client calls about an urgent job. It's Kev's nemesis, off-duty officer Bested. Kev sends Bex out to get brekky; then gives Bested a taste of her own medicine, with a rapid demo of his old boxing skills.
He warns her to stay away from Annie, as she's Kev's wife now, not Bested's.
