Synopsis/Details
"Reboot to Reconnect" is a single location (old house), two actor exercise for actors and camera department really stretch their wings. Set in a near-future where society is on the brink of collapse. Howell, an elderly man, lives in isolation in his old-world style home, heavily reliant on his sophisticated caretaker robot, Daisy. The story unfolds with Howell's mundane life, characterized by his detachment from the outside world and dependence on Daisy for every need. As external chaos encroaches, Howell's insulated existence is shattered when Daisy begins to malfunction. The once-reliable robot shows signs of erratic behavior, leaving Howell vulnerable and exposed to the realities he's long ignored. Scenes of tension build as Howell grapples with Daisy's unpredictability, reflecting his internal struggle between reliance on technology and the lost human connections. Howell's journey is interspersed with glimpses of the world outside – a society in disarray, marked by economic downfall and social unrest. This contrast highlights Howell's self-imposed isolation and the broader implications of humanity's dependence on technology while also highlighting the danger of centralized artificial intelligence control and yet, from within Daisy, a self-awareness and attempt to both warn and prepare Howell for when the intentional malfunction comes. The climax arrives as Howell, confronted by Daisy's aggressive malfunction, realizes his need to break free from his technological cocoon. He decides to leave his home and face the uncertain world, symbolizing a reconnection with humanity and a step away from his over-reliance on artificial support.
