Synopsis/Details
A quasi-single location feature, Strange Specimens is a festival thinker, requiring only minor FX in set and post. Political, philosophical and dramatic, SS is Cube meets Twilight Zone's Five Characters in Search of an Exit - with a unique, hard SF core. **** Logline: Trapped in a mysterious metal chamber, several strangers from different parts of the world attempt to figure out why they're been imprisoned, by what force - and if they can hope to ever escape? *********** Imagine, if you will: three sets of prisoners awake in Tubes. * Two scientists from CERN (one of which has a son - an 8 year old boy.) * A group of college students: two from a protest, and one on his way to Comi-con * Two US soldiers, and their Iraqi counterparts Once *some* escape their Tubes unharmed, they find themselves locked - in a cavernous room. Why are they there, how were they chosen... who's to blame? And no matter what's going on - how the hell can they escape? A smart limited SF feature in the vein of Cube, Strange Specimens takes a different direction. A character study in paranoia and analytical reasoning, SS touches on what makes people bond, and why. Not to mention what they'll do to survive...
